Faith in Action Sunday - October 19th

Faith in Action Sunday is THIS Sunday!
Take the Leap!

Sunday project news & options:

1. Tri-Haven House repair and cleanup. Gather at CHBC at 9:30 AM to carpool. Bring gloves, yard tools, painting duds, etc.

2. National Guard Care Kits - Rose Room, 10 AM. See list of needed items (below) you can bring.

3. Pennies for Heaven - Fellowship Hall, 10 AM. Help count and roll pennies that will help "Break the Chains" - ie stop human trafficking and slavery.

I've also heard of other wonderful renegade projects such as a small group taking quarters to a local laundromat to help low-income families; a "walk & talk" in the community to share faith and get to know people; and a family who is gathering clothing to take to a rescue mission in Portland. Great stuff!

If you have questions or want more info about any of these projects, email me at curtisbuthe@gmail.com

Also, remember to return to Cedar Hills Baptist for a potluck dinner at 5 PM and a very different kind of celebration worship at 6 PM.

See you in Service and Worship! But wait - here's the info for the National Guard Care Kits from coordinator Liz Matzke:

Hi, Everyone:

Thanks so much for your support of the National Guard Encouragement Project! Several folks have told us that they plan to shop this week. I have one person (so far) who wants to know what items still need to be supplied. If you have done your shopping already, would you be so kind as to call or e-mail me with what items you're supplying, as well as how many, so we can update those who inquire.

Our phone is 503-297-6783
My e-mail is: Elizabeth.Matzke@providence.org

Thanks again!

Liz

Getting Started

Faith in Action Begins!
This last Sunday, September 28th, we began our Faith in Action emphasis at Cedar Hills Baptist.  About 25-30 adults came to the first Sunday small group class and it seemed like people were curious, and hopefully enthused.  In worship we continued to get the creative juices flowing and things started clicking for many.  The point of this blog isn't for me to write a bunch - it's for everyone involved in Faith in Action to share what your thinking.  So now it's your turn....
